Mobile Legends Hylos: The Ultimate Guide to Mastering the Guardian of the Forest

Mobile Legends, with its rich lore and strategic depth, offers a myriad of heroes each with unique abilities and playstyles. Hylos, with his towering presence and control over the forces of nature, is a tank hero par excellence.

Understanding and mastering Hylos is not merely about learning skill rotations; it’s about embodying the role of a protector, a guardian who can decisively influence the outcome of battles with his strategic prowess.

Who is Hylos?

Hylos, the Grand Warden, is a sentinel of the ancient forests, a guardian whose power is as vast as the woods he calls home.

In the lore of Mobile Legends, he is depicted as a being of ancient magic, committed to safeguarding the natural order against those who seek to desecrate it.

Within the game, Hylos stands as a formidable tank, specializing in absorbing damage, controlling enemy movements, and safeguarding his allies.

His unique ability to convert mana into health sets him apart, offering a gameplay dynamic that rewards strategic mana and health management.

Hylos’ Abilities Explained

To wield Hylos effectively, understanding the nuances of his abilities is paramount. Each skill in his arsenal is designed to disrupt, control, and withstand, making him a pivotal figure in team compositions.

Passive: Thickened Blood

Hylos’ passive ability is a cornerstone of his durability. For every point of extra Max Mana, Hylos gains additional Max HP, allowing him to become increasingly resilient as the game progresses. This passive encourages a build strategy that focuses on mana, thereby enhancing his survivability on the battlefield.

First Skill: Law and Order

This skill allows Hylos to charge at his foes, dealing magic damage and stunning the target. It’s an essential tool for initiating combat, disrupting enemy formations, or peeling for allies. Mastery of this skill can significantly impact Hylos’ effectiveness in skirmishes and team fights.

Second Skill: Ring of Punishment

Hylos unleashes a wave of magic damage that affects nearby enemies continuously, making it a potent tool for area control and sustained damage output. This skill’s effectiveness is amplified in crowded team fights, where it can continuously sap the strength of multiple adversaries.

Ultimate: Glorious Pathway

Hylos creates a pathway that enhances allies’ speed while slowing down enemies. This ultimate can turn the tide of battles, providing strategic advantages whether you’re initiating a fight, chasing down fleeing enemies, or facilitating a tactical retreat.

Best Builds for Hylos 2024

The right item build can significantly enhance Hylos’ performance, tailoring his strengths to suit your team’s needs and counter the enemy’s strategy. Here’s an optimal build designed to maximize Hylos’ tanking capabilities and battlefield control:

Core Items:

  • Cursed Helmet: Provides sustained magic damage to nearby enemies while boosting Hylos’ health, synergizing perfectly with his passive.
  • Dominance Ice: Reduces the attack speed of nearby enemies and significantly increases Hylos’ mana pool, directly enhancing his survivability through his passive.
  • Athena’s Shield: Offers a magic damage shield that scales with the game’s duration, making Hylos even harder to take down.

Situational Items:

  • Boots (Warrior/Tough): Choose based on the enemy’s composition; Warrior Boots for physical defense, Tough Boots for magic resistance and reduced crowd control effects.
  • Immortality: Provides a second life in team fights, crucial for late-game scenarios where every moment counts.
  • Oracle: Increases the effectiveness of healing and shield effects, including those from items and emblems, making Hylos even more resilient.

Item Build Sequence:

  1. Start with Magic Shoes for cooldown reduction, allowing Hylos to use his abilities more frequently.
  2. Build Cursed Helmet early to maximize damage output in lane skirmishes and team fights.
  3. Dominance Ice is next, enhancing Hylos’ mana pool and defensive capabilities.
  4. Athena’s Shield provides a substantial magic damage buffer against enemy mages.
  5. Immortality offers a second chance in critical moments, ensuring Hylos remains a threat even after being taken down.
  6. Finally, Oracle or situational defensive items can be added to bolster Hylos’ tankiness and utility based on the evolving game dynamics.

Recommended Emblems and Battle Spells

The Tank emblem set, with a focus on Brave Smite or Concussive Blast, is ideal for Hylos. These talents enhance his crowd control capabilities and survivability, making him an unyielding force on the battlefield.

Battle Spells

  • Vengeance: This spell reduces damage taken and reflects it back to the attacker, making Hylos a dangerous foe to focus on.
  • Revitalize: Creates a healing area for Hylos and his allies, bolstering the team’s sustainability during sieges and team fights.

Hylos’ Skill Combos and Gameplay Strategy

Effective use of Hylos’ skill combos can devastate opponents, turning the tide of battle in your favor. A common combo is Ultimate -> First Skill -> Second Skill, utilizing the ultimate to gain positional advantage, followed by the first skill to stun a key target, and the second skill to deal sustained damage and slow enemies.

Early Game Strategy

  • Prioritize building your mana pool early to leverage Hylos’ passive for increased survivability.
  • Assist in securing objectives and provide protection for your team’s damage dealers, ensuring they can farm safely.

Mid to Late Game Strategy

  • As the game progresses, initiate team fights with your ultimate, aiming to disrupt the enemy’s backline and create openings for your team.
  • Focus on peeling for your damage dealers, using your skills to control enemy movements and secure objectives.

Pros and Cons of Playing Hylos

  • Unmatched Durability: Hylos’ ability to convert mana into health makes him one of the tankiest heroes in Mobile Legends.
  • Powerful Initiator: His skill set allows for effective engagement and disengagement, making him a linchpin in team fights.
  • Area Control: Hylos excels in controlling the battlefield, disrupting enemy formations and protecting allies.

  • Mana Dependency: Effective mana management is crucial, as depleting resources can significantly diminish Hylos’ effectiveness.
  • Mobility Issues: Without his ultimate, Hylos may struggle to engage or disengage quickly, making positioning key.

Hylos Counters and Synergies

Hylos synergizes well with heroes that can capitalize on his crowd control abilities, such as Gusion or Granger, who can quickly follow up on his engagements.

Conversely, he is countered by heroes with strong burst damage or anti-regen capabilities, like Eudora or Karina, who can bypass his defenses.

Tips and Tricks for Mastering Hylos

  • Strategic Mana Use: Always keep an eye on your mana and health pools. Hylos’ effectiveness is closely tied to his ability to manage these resources.
  • Effective Positioning: Utilize terrain and bushes for ambushes or to retreat strategically. Positioning can make or break your engagements.
  • Team Communication: Coordinate with your team regarding targets and tactics. Hylos’ abilities can significantly impact team fights when used in concert with allies.

  1. What a stupid build, pure magic?. Hylos needs to get tanky items that give raw mana too to boost hp so he can tank and be a frontline for the team. Your mage build for a tank is a joke.

    • Hi Mate,
Sorry for your miscommunication about this build has been shared if for who’s using Side lane with Hylos. His 2nd skill need more mana for dominating enemy side lane hero & Also clear the creeps asap if active 2nd skill.

      Hope you understood.

    • The dude is right. Actually clock on hylos is amazing even for tank. AMAZING. Depending on enemy composition I will likely take clock sideline or even main tank. I tend not to take lightning truncheon and instead focus on max hp with magic helmet and regen helmet so I can dip in and out of combat, do high damage, and regen without recalling. Typically taking 40% damage and dealing 20+. Hylos is INSANE right now, busted, crazy. He will soon join the ban list, he’s a sleeper hero that people have not yet discovered is crazy in this meta. I play at high mythic in case you are interested.
